The Miniaturist
The centuries-old Miniature Painting art of India. Beautiful. Finely hand-painted. And mesmerizing in its details. Art one would find in museums or galleries. Now, for you to wear on your person- as jewelry.
Our new collection brings together the age-old Miniature painting tradition of Rajasthan with the impeccable silversmithing from Jaipur. The result? An exquisite collection of wearable art comprising earrings, rings, and necklaces.
An extremely refined skill, miniature painting by hand is an old craft indeed and can be traced back to the Mughals some 460 years ago. You can read more about the history of this craft here and about the intricate process here.
Two years ago, we went on a quest to find the few remaining chitrakars/artists who specialized in miniature painting for jewelry. Find them we did, and for this collection, we're fortunate to have collaborated with two of them. One in Ajmer and one in Jaipur- both of whom learned this exquisite and painstaking art from their forefathers, who were artists in royal courts.
Using the same techniques and skills used since the 16th century, passed down through families and traditional guilds, from fathers to sons, this is truly a collector's collection.
A reflection of our commitment to support local artisans and preserving traditional craft techniques, the designs in this collection meld historic references with contemporary influences. A collection that's equal parts avant-garde and familiar. And one that'll integrate effortlessly into a modern wardrobe, injecting it with whimsy, sophistication, and art.
